I wrote a comprehensive Wikimedia Strategy for Auckland Museum.

In 2020 I was commissioned by Auckland War Memorial Museum to assess their current initiatives with Wikipedia, Wikidata, and Wikimedia Commons, and make recommendations – in essence, proposing a long-term Wikimedia strategy. Auckland Museum is the GLAM institution in New Zealand that engaged first and most seriously with Wikimedia, and was the first New Zealand museum to host a Wikipedian in Residence. In my report I touched on the AWMM Wikidata presence, Commons categories, the best-performing collection images, photography strategy, cultural permissions for Māori/Pasifika objects, Bionomia, the Biodiversity Heritage Library, copyright policy, and many other issues. The full report is available under a Creative Commons licence here, and its recommendations were use to inform the Museum’s Wiki Workplan.
